About Us
DAVE & NAOMI ESTMENT - Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Botswana
Hello and welcome
A professional photographer, videographer, writer and blog consultant, I co-own a photographic company (Outdoor Video & Photographic), incorporating a Johannesburg-based studio, with my husband Dave. Qualified in portraiture, fashion & glamour photography and master lighting, I’m passionate about the studio, particularly as it pertains to nurturing talent, hence the Studio category on this blog. Also, with one completed novel (see My Books) and a distinction in magazine journalism, I do plenty of Writing, so that category includes updates, tips and inspirations.
In addition to being an ex-pro superbike racer, current enduro rider and scuba diving instructor – among other things – Dave is a long-standing member of the SA Guild of Motoring Journalists. Much of his Wildlife and motor sport photography has been published in books, magazines, image libraries, websites and calendars. Together we provide a range of commissioned photography and videography, such as producing promotional videos and documenting exclusive African safaris for the likes of Hills of Africa Travel in the USA (see Video page).
This has evolved into the creation of Films and photographic books to accompany them, as in the case of Rhineo & Juliet – Love and Tragedy in Africa and The Ark – Rhino Survival Sanctuary, which we’ve recently completed with the purpose of helping towards saving rhino from imminent extinction (due to appalling, escalating poaching for their horn).
In line with this, I contribute to Africa on the Blog, which represents “The voice of Africa, from all over the world”. Also, drawing on my blogging experience, 15 years in the corporate world (including a strong focus on communications, direct marketing and computer programming) and a decade of entrepreneurship, I assist clients to set up and manage business websites and Blogs.
Otherwise, this site is infused with Inspiration, featuring photography and philosophy. We’ve been fortunate to travel often and explore our subcontinent’s bushveld extensively, invariably with cameras in hand. This is too great a privilege to keep to ourselves, and a key motivation behind this blog.
My Bulletin Board shares newsworthy stuff as it happens, while the Daily Life category offers a window into our world. For the rest it’s a means of expression and connection, so please comment freely.
Warm regards,
Naomi

Hey Naoms

Haven’t heard much about any of you IN SUCH A LONG TIME
How have you been , and Dave? What have you been up to, what are you doing on the other side of the planet?
Hope to hear from you two Sooooooonest
Kind Regards
Tex
Hi Tex, how cool to hear from you!
Where are you & what are you up to? We’re very well, doing much the same stuff & enjoying life lots. Dave is still involved with NFB, but to a lesser extent. He’s more focussed on commercial property broking now, apart from photography. I do all the admin and spend quite a bit of time writing. We think of you sometimes as we still have our gorgeous dog…Tex!
Thanks for getting in touch. I sent you a friend request on FB, so we can hook up there
Cheers 4 now,
Nomes

Thank you so much for your kind words, Henry, sincerely appreciated
You are doing wonderful work at http://mwanatrust.org/. It’s enlightening to read about your achievements and philosophy in the field of maths. I love your insightful expression that “Mathematics is the mother and slave of all the Sciences and is the language of nature…”
Abundant blessings to you in return,
Naomi

Thanks so much for your kind comment, Hy!
I’m sure you and your wife would LOVE a photo safari – it would no doubt fit your fabulous ‘thrive’ philosophy
We can highly recommend Hills of Africa Travel (www.hillsofafrica.com) to help you arrange a trip to Africa.
Blessings back to you both,
Naomi
Found you guys through Heart (Rachana) and found myself to be quite intrigued with your lifestyle in South Africa. I’m sure you have plenty of pics of that beautiful country, and I’ll get to looking around more, but for now I’m on a quest to expand my view of Wordpress and see what others have to offer. Have you traveled to other countries? If so I’d love if you posted pics of any other country you visited (This is being said while assuming you don’t have pictures already up).
Looking forward to reading more in depth about your guy’s blog. Happy Anniversary as well.
Mr. Mojo Risin
Thanks, Mr. Mojo Risin (cool name
)! Great that you found us through the gorgeous Rachana, and your blog looks fascinating too. I shall be over again soonest to have a proper read.
We’ve done quite a bit of traveling, inter-continental as well as within Africa. You’ll find a strong wildlife focus here, because that’s one of our biggest passions, with plenty of images from around South Africa, Botswana and Kenya. Dave’s enduro racing has taken us to many destinations around this country, as well as Lesotho (independent enclave within SA), so some of that is also documented here. Occasional snow skiing and scuba diving pics pop up too.
Hope you enjoy browsing & all the best with your blog!
Naomi
Animals always provide great photo opportunities!
To my understanding, you most likely run into zebras, cheetah’s and elephants, among other animals. It’d be interesting to see what you have captured of cheetah’s and I’m sure I’ll run into plenty soon enough.
A side note, I’m a fanatic of wolves (which, unless I’m incorrect, aren’t inhabitants of Africa, either way) if you happen to have captured any pics of wolves I’d be grateful if you shared.
Enduro racing sounds awesome, never done it myself (though ATV and motocross racing is big in America). I have plenty to learn from you and your blog, Africa will be an interesting topic, I do hope you touch on the culture within Africa as well, I love learning little things about others’ cultures.
Wonderful – so do I
You will certainly find pics of those animals here. Dave is also a big fan of wolves…perhaps one day we’ll do some wildlife photography in America (where we have visited to ski, which was awesome). That would be cool!
Hi Naomi
Okay, so reading this has answered my question on the last comment I left! lol
Have a GREAT day!!
Chloe xx
Thanks a ton, Chloe! Also for your last, lovely comment
Delighted to discover your blog too – it’s exquisite!
Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend,
Naomi, xo
