Post image for African Elephants getting Wet & Wild!

Londolozi Game Reserve, South Africa.
Afternoon game drive.
16h30

The trumpet and splash of Africa’s giants halts us in our tracks. Forget sundowners, these two have our rapt attention, as well as Dave’s lens trained on the action. This one is his Nikon 200-400mm F4 baby, lovingly hand-held 🙂 We’ve seldom come across elephants tussling in water. Seldom enough that I couldn’t select a single image, so decided on a sequence. It’s impossible to tire of the bushveld’s spontaneity – delivering unlimited, unexpected, unparalleled enchantment. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Naomi,

Fantastic pictures, glad that you were able to get such a nice sequence of elephants when you went out on drive with us. Can you remember which dam these were taken in?
These pictures remind me of some footage captured by one of our rangers late last year – http://blog.londolozi.com/2009/10/power-animals-and-playing-elephants/.

Well done again, will definitely vote for you in the blog awards.

Hi Rich,

Thank you so much for the compliment and great comment!

We had a spectacular long weekend at Londoz a few years ago, thanks to kind invitation from Warren. I’m not certain, but think this was at LTA dam (very close to the lodge). We were out with Tom – awesome drive! Nearly broke our hearts, though, to see little Elvis with deformed legs, just before this 🙁

Thanks for the link to that stunning post! And for voting for us – sincerely appreciated! Also, CONGRATS to you guys on getting into the SA Blog Awards finals . . . we’re voting for you too 🙂

Best of luck!

Naomi
