2011 IMTA Convention Rocks New York!

model Charne Spies photographed on location in South Africa

It’s all happening right now in the Big Apple: the 2011 IMTA (International Modeling and Talent Association) convention – and South Africa’s top talent is in the mix, showcasing their potential for major market agents, managers and casting directors who are in search of new faces.

In the whirlwind of last week’s preparations, we photographed a stunning local model, Charnรฉ Spies, to add “something different” to her modeling portfolio. Dave being Dave, he came up with the goods at very short notice, planning our shoot at one of his nearby Enduro riding playgrounds ๐Ÿ˜€ The broken-down building, situated beside a deserted Jo’burg mine dump, caught the dawn light to perfection, resulting in an edgy, Mad Max-style setting. Charnรฉ was a consummate professional, barely flinching as she changed outfits in the icy winter cold, posed in next-to-nothing dresses and teetered across rubble in sky-high stilettos – except when Dave helped her out with a piggyback!

How to give a beautiful model a piggyback!

We have a particular interest in some of SA’s other stars too, since I had the pleasure of shooting their portfolio in studio, including three of our national, top ten finalists: model Tracey Kroukamp, actress Nina Robertson and singer Kirsten Zacharowitz:

Big thanks to Merlene from the fabulous Randburg branch of Figures Models SA, who referred these gorgeous girls to us for their studio photography. We’re rooting for them all!

Is that the same man who just came out of surgery?! ๐Ÿ™‚ Great photos, Naomi, and I hope Charne is able to fulfill her desires. A beautiful young woman with a beautiful name.

We have just returned from NY and what an awesome time we had!! The South Africans did exceptionally well. Overall outstanding results and achievements. We will be holding thumbs for the contracts and offers to arrive. this we will only know in the next few weeks etc.
We won the dancing competition and came second in the singing competiton.
Most of our girls received ” Honourable Mention” at the IMTA. There were over 9000 contestatns this year.
I am really beaming with pride as two of the Figures Randburg girls were selected by an interantional designer and choreographer to participate in a fashion show, whilst there.
What an achievement and impression they made. Well done Tayla and Bianca! They were selected with two other Figures students from other branches. Out of the final fiftenn models selected for the show, Four were from Figures and Two from Randburg!
Well done Figures Randburg students and Figures students from other branches.
