Our recent return to &Beyond‘s Madikwe Safari Lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve was a total treat. It’s impossible to convey the full extent of the magic with only a few photo’s, so for many more highlights, have a look at my Facebook album: Madikwe – June 2010
To kick off with, here’s a pic taken in the early morning at one of the dams.
This is where we watched an attempted lion kill in October last year, when Dave and I documented Hills of Africa Travel’s Soul Safari 2009. What an awesome trip too! It was wonderful to see these lionesses again, with their cubs growing up gorgeously:
The mother of a lens is Dave’s pride and joy, Nikon’s 600mm F4 masterpiece. Weighing in at around 6kg’s, it’s far too heavy for me to hand-hold, but these pics show how well he does it:
This is another view through Dave’s lens, of Rob Harrison-White, acclaimed wildlife film-maker who produced and directed Mountain Rivals. He gave us a copy, which is absolutely breath-taking! Rob is hard at work here recording jackals. Beats the hell out of an office job, doesn’t it? For info about his extensive research, view Carte Blanche‘s 2009 article: Justifying the Jackal
At the end of each day, we were spoilt with sundowners in the wild, followed by a welcoming fire in our stunning suite!
