Skill is learned.

It requires patience and perseverance.

Quotes to consider:

“Learning how to learn is life’s most important skill.” – Unknown

“Technical skill is mastery of complexity, while creativity is mastery of simplicity” – Erik Christopher Zeeman

“Wisdom is knowing what to do next, skill is knowing how to do it, and virtue is doing it.” – David Starr Jordan

“After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are always artists as well.” – Albert Einstein

Your last quote inspires me to comment, Naomi. I’m reading a biography of Stephen Hawkings. Because Einstein was Stephen’s hero, there are some interesting facts that reveal marvelous insights about Dr. Einstein. For example, he knew that any scientist who does not have an artist’s eye simply misses key data. In looking at Dave’s photography, I have to wonder if he is in love with science as well.

Ah, insightful as ever, Amy! Stephen Hawking seems like a phenomenal man. His biography must be brilliant. As for Dave, I can certainly confirm his passion for technology. A mechanical engineer by training and inclination, technical skill is right at the top of his photographic checklist. I believe he manages to merge it with art 🙂
