Taking a shower on the Wild Side…together with Lions!

Little compares to the quiet symphony of a bush shower. Hot water is preferable, regardless if it spouts from a tap, bucket or bag. But the essential ingredient is open air. That perfect blend of shampoo mixed with wildness. It holds a primal pull. Midday is best, mellowing the burst of freshness from drying off:

CIVILIZED SETUP - Welgevonden, Waterberg, South Africa

Sometimes, however, caution is prescribed, like once at Mabuasehube in Botswana. Our own campsite barren, we investigate another, only to find that we’re not there first. A pride of thirsty lions precedes us. Maneuvering our vehicles into a safe scenario, we oblige with a steady trickle, before retreating to let them drink. It’s clear that the water tastes delicious to their tongues. You’re most welcome, magnifient friends, with all our love πŸ™‚

Hey Mands, thanks so much for commenting & how cool to see this lovely pic of you!

It’s wonderful that you’ve spent so much time in the bush…I’m sure we could chat for ages about a whole lot of places! There aren’t really campsites as such at Mabua’, just the designated spots of sand, along with a car-sized thatch A-frame shelter on a concrete slab, rustic shower like this and a long drop πŸ™ Dave was quite put out about all this ‘advancement’. He loves nothing more than virgin bush πŸ™‚

Have a fabulous week in your gorgeous part of the world!

Oh wow! Naomi! This is by far my favourite post of your’s yet. The photography is unbelievable and of all the African pictures I’ve ever seen, I have never seen something that actually felt so real on my end. The one where the lion is walking away licking her lips with her eyes closed is absolutely magnificent. I actually feel like I’m there.

I think you folks have such a wonderful life and thank you so much for sharing it with all of us. Fantastic work Naomi and thanks for the lions Africa ~ beautiful land…

I love the dichotomy of the wild lions so casually and comfortably utilizing the human facilities. The final photo of the ‘Satisfied Lions’ is my favorite. I love your site ~ I’m grateful to Brett “Moments…” for introducing you and it to me. Oh, following you on twitter now. {I’m @ddh77}
